NASITDEA REPRESENTS NASARAWA AT 13TH NCCIDE MEETING: FOCUS ON ACCELERATING INCLUSIVE DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

The Nasarawa State Information Technology and Digital Economy Agency (NASITDEA) has participated in the 13th Regular Meeting of the National Council on Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (NCCIDE) held at the Gowon Hall, Crispan Suites & Event Centre, Jos, Plateau State from Monday 8th to Friday 12th December, 2025, with discussions centered on advancing digital technology to drive sustainable national development. This year’s conference theme “Accelerating Inclusive Digital Transformation: Bridging Gaps and Fostering Sustainable Growth Through Innovation.”

The Director General of NASITDEA, Haruna Sani Sani (C.ITP, MCPN), led the Nasarawa delegation to the council meeting. Other members of the delegation included Adama Mohammed Akhan, Agbo Faruq Rabo (AMCPN), Zakari Obulama Mohammed, and Abdullahi Imran, who represented the state in various technical sessions and knowledge-exchange engagements.

During the meeting, key national stakeholders reviewed strategies to deepen digital inclusion, strengthen ICT infrastructure, and promote innovation across states. The council also deliberated on ways to reduce technology barriers, enhance local content development, and improve regulatory frameworks for digital operations in Nigeria.

Nasarawa State presented five memos across key syndicate groups. Under the Knowledge Group, it submitted “Indigenous Startup Educational Grant”. In Policy Group A, the proposals included “Public-Private Digital Mining Skills Partnership Program (PMSPP)” and “Nasarawa State Digital Skills Expansion Program”. For the Innovation Group, the memo on “Artificial Intelligence (AI) Fluency Training for 15,000 Participants” was presented, while the Infrastructure Group featured the proposal for the “Nasarawa Mining Innovation Lab (NSUK UniPod Expansion)”. Out of the five submissions, four were approved, while one was stepped down.

The memos focus on expanding digital skills, supporting startups, advancing AI-driven training, and strengthening digital infrastructure to accelerate transformation across the state.

The event featured tour to the Palace of His Royal Highness, Da Jacob Gyang Buba CFR Gbong Gwom of Plateau State. As part of the engagements, the delegation also paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Her Excellency Josephine Chundung Piyo.

The tour provided participating states with insight into best practices and operational frameworks capable of being replicated to boost digital growth.

The NCCIDE meeting provided a platform for policy discussion, peer learning, and strategic alignment among federal and state players within Nigeria’s tech and innovation ecosystem. NASITDEA expressed readiness to domesticate resolutions from the council and work towards driving digital inclusion and economic advancement across Nasarawa State.
